Your birth experience is a pivotal moment in your life and directly reflects who you are as a parent; after all, your birth is your first parental decision.  The joy of seeing our son for the first time was the most indescribable moment in my life.  The complete satisfaction we experienced knowing we had done everything possible to ensure his health and safety through pregnancy, labor and delivery gave me an amazing sense of accomplishment.  Our son’s birth gave me immense respect and admiration for my husband (a wonderful birth coach) who with knowledge and wisdom advocated for our natural birth plan from start to finish. 

After our hospital birth experience I realized the natural childbirth advocates aren’t extremists, they’ve just experienced the realities of the American maternity standard of care.  The reality is that birthing in today’s society means women have options and alternatives to choose from: hospital v. birthing center, epidural v. no drugs, scheduled c-section v. natural delivery, breastfeeding v. formula and thousands more that women in generations past had no control over.  With these options comes a great deal of opportunity and responsibility.  I became a childbirth educator in hopes of equipping couples with the knowledge to make informed choices, bringing you great satisfaction about the birth of your choice.
