Congratulations, you're expecting!  The birth of your baby is such a special time in your life, and you want everything to be just right.  Before my first son was born I was scared and anxious about labor and birth.  Although I was a nurse, I didn't have much experience with labor and delivery and didn't really know what to expect.  Taking childbirth classes changed all that.  By the time I finished the class series I felt confident and well prepared to face my labor- no matter what it brought.  I now have 3 children and have had 3 natural births.

 I like to think back and remember each labor and each birth.  Each experience was as unique as my 3 children and just as wonderful.  I can't say that labor was pain-less or easy, it was definitely hard work and at times very uncomfortable.  But, I also don't think it was a horrible painful experience that I don't like to think about.  I love telling others about my labors and births because I think of them as good experiences in my life.  Birth is not supposed to be scary or very painful.  I like to think of it as a rite of passage into motherhood.  The feeling right after each baby was born was so amazing.  I will never forget the overwhelming love, sense of accomplishment and pure joy that I felt the first time I held each baby.  This is what I hope to share with those taking my classes that birth is beautiful and your baby IS worth a natural birth.

Other than being a Mom and teaching Natural Childbirth, I am also a nurse with experience in pediatrics and at a free-standing birthing center.
